The Taos High School culinary department stole the show at the annual New Mexico ProStart competition in Santa Fe.
Both the management and culinary teams from the ProStart competition took home first place in their categories and will be heading to the national ProStart competition in Washington D.C. in May.
Both Taos teams took it upon themselves to dedicate their performance to former Taos High Culinary teacher Benjie Apodaca, who passed away in 2019.
The Taos team also won the Hospitality Cup awarded for the highest combined team score.
The Taos managment team is made up of Aedin Miller, Makayla Montoya, Jordan Montoya, Miel Tafoya and Arianna Montoya and the culinary team includes Liam Davis, Benito Martinez, Santiago Tafoya, Emily Thomas and Alimar Espinoza-Sack.
ProStart is a program focused around the culinary field and also dives into the management side of the business by giving students an opportunity to design menus, price points and ownership.
