Taos Air is back for winter service and will take to the skies on Dec. 19 for its second season.
The chartered airline will return for winter flights to and from Austin and Dallas airports for the 2019-20 ski season. Flights for the second season start at $160 for a one-way flight from Taos to Texas.
"Last season Taos Air was extremely valuable to our local businesses, which benefited from the influx of Texas-based visitors throughout the winter and spring, and we were pleasantly surprised by how many area residents flew to Texas for business or pleasure," said Mayor Dan Barrone in a media release. "Taos Air is a win-win for Northern New Mexico's businesses, residents and community. We hope it continues to flourish and even grow as a transportation option for our area."
The previous season, Taos Air flew in visitors who spent over $800,000 in the Enchanted Circle, according to an economic impact study. This spending adds to the lodgers tax and gross receipts tax collection in Taos County as well as Colfax County.
Taos Air was set for summer flights, but flights were cancelled to focus on providing a better winter flight schedule for passengers.
Taos Air will be booking flights on Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holiday Mondays. Service will run through March 29, 2020. Passengers can now officially book their flights by calling (833) 359-8267 (FLY TAOS) and through skitaos.com/taos-air soon. (The website was not functioning on Oct. 16.) Flights are provided by Advanced Air LLC on a Dornier 328 jet with 30 seats available for passengers.
