Michael Franti's concert in Kit Carson Park may have been canceled, but he went on with his planned 'mini performance' at a yoga class in El Monte Sagrado Living Resort & Spa in Taos Saturday (September 30).

The Yoga Concert with Michael Franti and Emily Branden was originally planned for the lawn in the back of El Monte, but was moved inside to the ballroom. Approximately 100 people attended – with partial proceeds of the $40 ticket going toward Franti's nonprofit, "Do It For The Love," which sends ill children to the rock concerts of their choice.

Franti said about the park cancellation, "Our team threw hay on the ground in the park. But it wasn't helping. With the hay, water and mud, we had an adobe."

He also said that he had visited Taos Pueblo earlier Saturday with Grammy® award-winning Robert Mirabal.

And he promised, "I'll be back next summer!" – to the delight of the assembled crowd in the ballroom.

Franti, a well-known yoga practitioner, played a couple of opening songs, then joined in for the yoga practice – before returning to the mike to close out the session with more songs.

Among the songs he sang was one of the crowd favorites, reminding everyone "You've got to enjoy every second."
