Posted

An elderly woman crashed a minivan into a pillar at the front entrance to Smith's grocery store in Taos on Saturday (Feb. 1), according to Taos Police Chief David Trujillo.

The collision crushed the front end of the van but caused only minor damage to the store. Bystanders who were shopping for groceries when the crash occurred later posted photos of the damaged vehicle to Facebook.

Trujillo did not identify the driver, but described her as an "elderly female" and a "tribal member."

While the driver complained of injuries following the crash, Trujillo said she declined medical treatment offered to her at the scene, according to a report.
