Wheeler Peak summit shots from our readers

Locals and visitors stand on New Mexico's highest peak

Posted

Hiking to the top of Wheeler Peak (elevation 13,167') is epic. It's New Mexico's highest peak and overlooks the vast Wheeler Peak Wilderness Area. The hike usually encompasses the full Wheeler Peak Loop; though many opt for the alternate "up-and-back" route via Williams Lake. However one chooses to summit, it's an unforgettable experience to be standing at the top of New Mexico!
