After a one-year hiatus, the popular Taos Pueblo Pow Wow is back and organizers are seeking volunteers to help prepare the grounds for the three-day event.
Every evening from 6 p..m. to sunset, volunteers are welcome to pitch in and help with building the arbor and working on other projects around the Pow Wow grounds, said Debbie Lujan, one of the organizers. The help is needed right up until the pow-wow begins Friday (July 12).
"The wooden arbor is a distinctive part of our celebration and every year, some poles have to be replaced, reset, or retied," said a post on the pow wow Facebook page. "It’s a labor of love, but we need your help to do the work.
If you’re in the area, stop by the pow wow grounds anytime after 6pm in the next couple weeks. We’ll provide refreshments and a free pass to the pow wow!"
Volunteers should bring rakes, hoes, gloves, post hole diggers, ladders and wire cutters if they have them. All help is greatly appreciated, said Lujan
The pow-wow takes place Friday, (July 12) through Sunday, (July 14). Dancers, singers and drummers come from all over the country for the weekend.
