The village of Taos Ski Valley will hold a candidate forum from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Feb. 15 in the Taos Tent for community members to get to know the people running for the village council positions.

Five candidates will take the stage to discuss their issues and answer questions for voters during the forum. Two council seats are up for grabs in the March 3 election.

Roger Pattison and Tom Wittman will be defending their seats as incumbents in this election. Wittman has served six terms on the village council.

Neal King, Rennato Frim and Ben Cook will try to unseat the sitting council in the election.

Members of the public will be able to ask candidates questions during the event, but those interested in submitting questions via email are encouraged to do so by contacting vtsv@vtsv.org .

Other municipalities holding elections on March 3 are Taos and Questa.

In Taos, four candidates are running for two spots. The top two winners in the race will receive the two council seats. Incumbents Darien Fernandez and Nathaniel Evans will vie with Billy Romero and Roger Martinez for their town of Taos Council seats.

Voters in Questa will have the opportunity to vote for their elected officers in March as well. Two council seats and a municipal judge position will be on the ballot. Before write-in candidates are certified, councilors John Anthony Ortega and Brent P. Jaramillo, who is also Taos County manager, are running unopposed for their seats. Judge Michael G. Rael is also running unopposed.
