The University of New Mexico-Taos Digital Media Arts program is hosting a mixer and camera giveaway for prospective students to learn about the growing digital entertainment industry and opportunities to get new skills and degrees at the local community college.
The event takes place today (July 20) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the KTAOS Solar Center.
The digital media arts program is geared toward new students, folks in the middle of their careers looking for new skills, and retirees and hobbyists. The program covers basics in film, radio, TV, event animation and advances in augmented reality.
The program partnered with Canon to offer six digital camera starter packs - including a recording microphone for video - that new digital media arts students can win.
The digital media arts department will also be announcing the recipients of $500 scholarships as well as showing short films created by students enrolled in the program. Michael's Kitchen will provide enchiladas. Friends and family are welcome to the free event.
