A waterline break has forced UNM-Taos to close it’s Klauer campus Nov. 30, though classes are still on at the downtown campus.

Klauer Campus will reopen Dec. 1 with classes and bus service operating as usual. The UNM-Taos Kids’ Campus will remain closed until further notice.

According to Bill Knief, communications director for UNM-Taos, the break occurred in the same place this summer, when the community college was forced to close the Klauer campus for four days.

The Nov. 30 break happened at the intersection of Los Cordovas Road and Lower Ranchitos, Knief said.

“It’s a wait-and-see situation. It might be a simple solution, but if it’s like last time [the water line broke], they may have to order parts…in Albuquerque,” Kneif said.

The town of Taos is repairing the break, which, being on a dedicated line, should impact only UNM-Taos.
