Twirl locks down longer

When New Mexico went on lockdown, Tempo invited Twirl to contribute a weekly column while schools were closed, geared toward helping families keep their children occupied in quarantine.

They have been warmly received by the community and we have invited them to stay on as a regular contributor.

For Twirl, as a retail store and community play space on Camino de la Placita that welcomes hundreds of families during the summer, the situation has been particularly hard to predict and to plan for responsibly.

“With that in mind, we have made the decision to keep our facility closed for the foreseeable future and to take the opportunity to bring forward some building and maintenance projects.” They announced in a press release today.

“We know this will be difficult as our community opens up and kids are off school, but we believe it is the responsible thing to do at this time. We will continue to serve families through our online programs which have become hugely popular, and our Twirl@ Home outreach programs providing resources for play and creativity in the home.

"We will continue to partner with the Nurturing Center, Youth Heartline, Taos Behavioral Health, Field Institute of Taos, the Taos Municipal Schools and others to get resources to kids for play and creativity at home. We have 200 more creativity bags being delivered this week, and we will be distributing 800 Hula-hoops and ideas for at-home outdoor fun in conjunction with FiTaos soon. And we will be planning ahead for when we do reopen and are able to gather as a community again.”

Their curbside pickup service will continue and over the next two weeks, the shop’s inventory will be moved to the Twirl Too location for ease of fulfillment and pickup during our maintenance work.

They are also gearing up to add all inventory to an online platform so that you will soon be able to browse and shop at Twirl online. Curbside pickup will remain an option for delivery along with USPS, FedEx and UPS.

You can continue to email laura@twirltaos.org with your requests stating Twirl@Home Supplies in the subject line and she will help you find what you need, and find Twirl and friends weekly, between our pages.
