Two trucks collided at the intersection of Camino de la Merced and Paseo del Pueblo Sur Thursday afternoon (May 28) in Taos.
First responders headed to the scene of the crash, located in front of Walmart, around 2 p.m. No ambulances were visible and the people involved in the crash appeared to be uninjured.
A witness who works at the Hotel Don Fernando across the street said one of the trucks heading northbound was attempting a legal turn from Paseo onto Merced when the second truck ran into it while speeding southbound.
But after his officers conducted an investigation into the crash, Taos Police Chief John Wentz said the northbound vehicle was at fault, having “made the left hand turn and violated the right of way of the southbound vehicle.” He added that the driver in the truck headed southbound had made no error.
