Opinion: Town should provide stats about Kit Carson concerts

Posted

Bob Fies' letter to The Taos News ("The Devolution of Kit Carson Park," May 30) is spot on. It should be required reading for the town council. Give us back our park! If someone truly believes that these big-name music concerts are reliable methods of developing the local economy (which turns out to be debatable), then a detailed survey could outline and pinpoint local opinion. Stats would be helpful.

As it is, the local population is left to drive the back roads to get around a purposely created traffic jam on the main drag, and to close our windows and doors during the intense noise. This does not make me happy. These concerts don't seem to stem from local culture. Unlike the free concerts on the Taos Plaza, they are disproportional and expensive. They are not Taos true. Please quit using my tax dollars for them.
