Celebrate New Year’s Eve on Taos Plaza from 7-10 p.m. Mayor Dan Barrone and family will be serving a pig roast dinner to the community and visitors as we countdown the New Year with the balloon release at 9 p.m. and fireworks at 10 p.m. Michael Hearne will provide a special musical performance from 7-8 p.m. followed by the Damn Band from 9-10 p.m.
This is a family friendly event. Parking and vehicular traffic will be closed on the Taos Plaza from 1 p.m. up to 12 a.m. as preparations unfold; the Plaza will be open to foot traffic all day.
In addition, town of Taos offices and the recycling center will be closed Friday, (Dec. 29) through Monday (Jan. 1). Offices will reopen on Jan. 2.
Taos County offices also will also be closed from Dec. 29 through Jan. 1.
New Year’s celebration parking will be available at our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Loretto parking lot, town hall, and Taos Public Library. For handicapped parking and for people requiring ADA access to the event, there will be extra parking at Guadalupe parking lot and the area next to the McCarthy parking lot directly behind the historic county courthouse.
