The food 'stands' alone

Food trucks, food carts, food stands — however you refer to the unassuming, yet delectable food outlets — were popular in Taos before they became trendy in larger cities across the country. And way before the term "taco trucks on every corner" became an anti-immigration meme.

The majority of "Taco trucks" around here tend to be more traditional. The recipes are often passed down through generations. But not all food stands here are of the Mexican/New Mexican variety. They also tend to be stationary, being more like mini restaurants on wheels but don't move from spot to spot.

Good prices, good food and ample portions are the main reasons why locals can be seen getting a breakfast burrito at a stand before work and Thai noodles at another stand for lunch. It's the local thing to do.
