The LANL Foundation is accepting applications for $2500 education and community outreach grants. The deadline for submission in the second yearly grant-making cycle is Aug. 15.
Two types of grants are available to nonprofit organizations, schools or education programs serving the Northern New Mexico counties of Taos, Los Alamos, Mora, Río Arriba, San Miguel, Sandoval or Santa Fe.
One type are Education Outreach Grants that can be used for projects that directly support public school children in grades K-12. The others are Community Outreach Grants for nonprofits with projects that focus on innovative programming, collaboration and advocacy for lifelong learning. These do not need to be tied directly to K-12 public education. Public school districts, nonprofit New Mexico educational institutions, IRS-qualified nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and pueblo/tribal communities may be eligible to receive grants. Recently, the Rocky Mountain Youth Corps and the Questa Youth Sports League both received LANL grants.
Grantees have one full year to spend the money and submit a final report to the LANL Foundation.
Application form, instructions and additional information may be found at lanlfoundation.org/grants, in addition to the list of 51 grant recipients that received $127,700 in funding during this half of the year.
