Taos Tiger wrestler signs with Adam State

In a ceremony at Taos High School on Wednesday (Dec. 5), Tyler Valencia made public his pledge to wrestle as part of the Adams State College team in Alamosa, Colorado for the 2019-2020 season.

It might be in his blood. The nephew of wrestling coach Robert Valencia, Tyler Valencia started training when he was 3 years old. He has qualified for state all three years that he's been at Taos High School and has returned with medals each time, including the gold last year.

Wrestling is not Valencia's only talent; Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado recognized Valencia with a merit scholarship, . An enthusiastic student of science and mathematics, he plans to pursue veterinary school. Fortunately for him, he is no stranger to competition, demanding schedules or discipline.
