Taos High School’s culinary Management Team is headed to Washington D.C. after finishing first in the New Mexico ProStart Invitational Monday (March 4).
The New Mexico Restaurant Association hosts the culinary challenge each year and brings the best young chefs and restaurant managers together for a day filled with heated competition between 17 high school teams. The Taos High School Management Team is responsible for creating a theoretical restaurant and the operations of it. Last year, the five-member team brought home third place in the competition.
Students involved in the culinary aspect of the competition are charged with cooking a three-course meal in under an hour. The Taos High Culinary Team took second place at this year’s competition.
Combined, the Taos team brought home the Hospitality Cup which is awarded to the school with the highest overall score. This is the fifth year in a row the Tigers have been awarded the house cup.
