Another challenger, another knockout. Taos wins its fourth straight in a rout that saw the game clock run throughout the entire second half.
Taos Tigers had no trouble with the second class 5A team they've faced so far this season - blanking the Santa Fe High School Demons 49-0 at Ivan Head Stadium Sept. 14. In fact, the score was nearly identical to the 47-0 drubbing to Los Alamos two weeks ago at Anaya Stadium.
The win keeps Taos atop the class 4A rankings as they head into their "bye" week.
"We're going to use this week to get back to the basics," said Coach Art Abreu Jr. in post-game remarks, aluding to his players using the idle week to heal their bodies and get some reps in the weight room. "But our focus doesn't change. We need to be ready for Capital."
Taos will take on those Capital Jaguars at home Sept. 28 in the final tune-up before the start of the district season. Game time is 7 p.m.
