A Taos County man was critically wounded in a shooting early Monday morning (Feb. 10) at Faustine's Trailer Park in El Prado, according to a press release sent on Thursday (Feb. 13) from the Taos County Sheriff's Office.

Sergeant Jason Rael said deputies were responding to a report of shots fired at the trailer park on Monday when Taos Police Officers stopped a vehicle near Cid's Food Market and discovered the gunshot victim inside the car.

The officers escorted the wounded man, who was not identifed in the press release, to Holy Cross Medical Center, where he was stabilized and then flown to a trauma center for further treatment. As of Thursday, the man remained in critical, but stable condition.

Rael said the sheriff's office is still investigating the shooting and has identified a person of interest in the case.
