Santiago Cortez made his impact known in 2017-18. With a big heart, Cortez was able to combine strength and humility into quiet leadership that translated to team success.
In 2017-18, Cortez was everywhere. As a three-sport athlete, he made his impact known – running the tight end and linebacker positions for coach Art Abreu Jr.; in the power forward spot for coach Hernando Chavez in basketball, and as starting third baseman and pitcher for coach Miguel Quintana. He was named to the 2-4A All-District team in both football and baseball and played in both sport’s North-South All-Star exhibition games in June.
