With a plethora of tools in the woodshed, Khweis was instrumental in a catapulting the Tigers to a district championship in 2017-18 - earning a "worst-to-first" moniker for Taos.
With size, speed, ball-handling skills and a prodigious vertical spring, Khweis became one of the top standouts for first-year coach Nando Chavez and the Taos Tigers basketball team. Playing all spots on the court, the freshman regularly produced double-digit scoring and rebounding for Taos, helping to turn a struggling program into a serious contender in only one season. Khweis also earned a first-place medal in track as a member of the 4x400-meter relay team, and he finished third in the highly competitive 800-meter run.
