Talpa hosts Little Free Library

Longing for something to read, but want the feel of a real book in your hand and can’t wait for the library to open?

The Talpa Community Library on State Road 518, site of the former Talpa School, now has a Little Free Library, available all day, every day.

The Little Free Library is nestled in an old Taos News newspaper rack, located right next to the playground, and decorated with a perky cat and a selection of books to choose from 24 hours a day.

The free library operates on the “take a book, return a book” motto, similar to free libraries around the United States and the world.

The Talpa Little Free Library is the gift of the Taos Milagro Rotary Club.

The nonprofit Little Free Library organization has a map of similar tiny lending and borrowing libraries worldwide at littlefreelibrary.org/ourmap/

The Taos Community Library is open 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Saturday and has 9,000 books, hi-speed internet, movies, an attractive children’s room, and lots and lots of books for sale at bargain prices. All Taos County residents may have a card and use the library.
