Whenever you drink water you know they are right - "Water is Life." Then comes your search for whatever can discount their validity and even their existence. This is the same kind of thinking that created "manifest destiny." The same thinking that condoned the biological, physical and cultural genocide of what anthropologists estimate to be around 200,000,000 souls.

Even after seven generations of trauma caused by the genocide, confinement to concentration camps, marginalization and prejudice, natives still are fighting for Mother Earth.

Now, first Nations Water Protectors face incarceration and litigation. Over 300 were arrested at Standing Rock. Natives cannot forget their duties and obligations to Mother Earth regardless of the consequences.

Common rhetoric: "It's none of my business." Mother Earth issues are important to all of us.

"I wasn't there when they took the land and killed the natives." Well, you are here now, so support them as they continue to fight for the blessings that were originally given to them.

Please find a way to support First Nations Water Protectors. This was their land. They shouldn't face further persecution for fighting for it.
