Between Jonah Vigil, Faith Powell, Abigail Gunther, and the boys 4 x 400 relay team, the Tigers bring home ten state championship titles.
At the end of Championship Saturday (May 18) at the 4A and 5A state championship track meet, Jonah Vigil left with five more first-place medals to add to his collection, bringing the total to 26. Faith Powell was awarded her twentieth medal. Both Tigers were the highest-scoring individual competitors in Class 4A, each winning five medals at the meet.
Between Vigil, Powell, Abigail Gunther, and the boys 4 x 400 relay team, the Tigers bring home ten state championship titles. Vigil won the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes, setting a new state record in the 100 meters, and ran the anchor leg of the boys' 4 x 400 with Abdul Khweis, Missael Hermosillo and Jonathan Garcia. Powell dominated the jumping events, winning the long jump, triple jump and pole vault. Gunther won the pole vault and the 300 meter hurdles.
