Get ready to get wet. The 14th annual Wet ‘n’ Wild Easter Event will take place Saturday (April 13), noon until 4 p.m. at the Taos Youth & Family Center, 407 Paseo del Cañon East. The free event is a presentation of the TYFC and town of Taos Community Events.
Main attraction will be a free Easter Egg Hunt for children 1-12 years old in the swimming pools. Sessions for kids up to age 6 will be held in the shallow water kiddie pool, and those age 7-12 will be in the larger recreation pool. The hunt will be separated into four age groups: 1-3 year olds at 1 p.m., 4-6 year olds at 1:30 p.m., 7-9 year olds at 1:50 p.m. and 10-12 year olds at 2 p.m..
Due to limited space in the dressing rooms, it is recommended that children wear swimsuits under clothing. All participants need to be prompt and will be required to take a shower before entering the pool. There are also a limited number of life jackets available.
Easter baskets will not be required. Children will be provided with a green-netted bag instead of an Easter Basket to gather their eggs, toys and rubber duckies. There will be rubber duckies, toys and brightly colored eggs filled with small toys or tickets that can be redeemed for an Easter basket and egg-decorating kits.
There will be a Kids’ Page “Color Me Bunny” Contest for children ages 3-10. The Easter Bunny “Pepito Conejito” will be available for visits and pictures from noon until 1:30 p.m. and again at 2 p.m. If you would like a 4-by-6 inch photo with Pepito, the cost will be $5. The Easter Bunny will have free bunny ears for the first 200 children. You may purchase hot dogs, candy bars, snow cones and drinks for $1. Nachos, pretzels and Frito pies will cost $2.50. Proceeds will benefit the Taos Youth Hockey Association.
There will also be various games, activities and booths sponsored by local organizations and businesses, some of which include prizes and giveaways.
The Taos Youth & Family Center Swimming Pool also will be offering recreation swim time from 3-5 p.m. The cost is $2 for children and $3 for adults. For more information, contact Judy Esquibel at (575) 751-2037 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
