Skiing to raise cancer awareness

On Saturday (Feb. 15), Taos Ski Valley will host Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) and its event "Shred the Love" to help raise awareness for those affected by the disease.

Money raised from the event will go to B4BC and Anita Salas Memorial Fund, a nonprofit that helps women with financial assistance.

The event will host K2 Bumps Challenge, a "marathon" down the slope at Al's Run. Athletes who participate in the race will have to have raised more than $100 by the time of the event.

To help fundraise for the event, you can do so at this link: classy.org/campaign/shred-the-love-or-taos-ski-valley-2020/c259080. And for more information on the event head over to skitaos.com/things-to-do/events/shred-love.

Try new gear at Angel Fire

From Friday through Sunday (Feb. 14-16), Angel Fire Ski Resort is promoting "Winter Demo Daze," which is a event for skiers and snowboarders to try out new gear for free.

The latest gear from Meier Skis, Never Summer, Sno-Go and others will be available to try for free with the purchase of a lift ticket. Representatives of each company will be on the mountain all weekend long.

February Fun Fest at Sipapu

From Saturday through Monday (Feb. 15-17), Sipapu Ski Resort is hosting "February Fun Fest," an event that includes a treasure hunt, a Santa Fe Brewing Happy Hops Hunt - a scavenger hunt for beer cans stuffed with prizes - among other activities.

There is a snow castle built each year by the team at Sipapu, sometimes reaching as high as three stories. It makes for a fun place for kids to play.
