Ruben Longeaux y Vasquez
Of San Cristobal was born November 2, 1953 at Fitz Simmons Hospital, Denver and passed away on September, 10th, 2017 at the age of 63. Ruben led a full and colorful life. He attended Taos High School and went on to graduate in the first graduating class in Corky Gonzales' Escuela Tlatelolco in Denver. He then worked as a volunteer at the "Clinica Del Pueblo in Tierra Amarilla" where he was taken under the wing of Dr. Steinbeck and learned about medicine. From La Clinica he was recruited to attend Colorado College in Colorado Springs where he supplemented his income working as a Disc jockey and developed a great knowledge and love of music. Ruben later came to live with his family in San Cristobal and moved to Albuquerque where he worked with the venders in Old Town and at the Santo Doming Indian Trading Post. later, he was employed at the Hyatt Hotel as a matre dee until he went to work at Human Resources Services where he was forced to leave because of poor health. He was preceded in death (1987) by step-father William Longeaux. He is survived by his mother Enriqueta L. Vasquez and sister Ramona Tafoya, husband Marvin Baggett. A mass will be held at the San Cristobal Church at 10:00 A. M. on October 21st and will be followed with interment at the San Cristobal Cemetery after which there will be shared memory and food at the San Cristobal Community Center. All are welcome.
