Put mill levy to voters in November

I know Holy Cross Hospital is requesting more mill levy funds from the county. Of course, hospitals always need money and I would not have a problem with my tax money going to them if they follow a fair process when asking for it.

Put mill levy to voters in November

I know Holy Cross Hospital is requesting more mill levy funds from the county. Of course, hospitals always need money and I would not have a problem with my tax money going to them if they follow a fair process when asking for it.

This year the general election in November is the proper and sensible place to have bond issues brought to the public. Often the hospital pushes for a special election, which costs money and results in a low turnout, mainly for those who are pressured to vote for it. This year I understand they are asking for a special mail-in ballot, which is estimated to cost $65,000. Even if the hospital says it will pick up the tab, this is a gross misuse of funds and the election process, and implies shady political manipulation.

Put it on the November ballot when the majority of the public comes out to vote. If it is truly necessary to our health and that of the hospital, it will pass then, and in a fair and just way.
