Tuesday (Nov. 19)
Taos County Board of Finance meets at 8:45 a.m. to hear and  vote on finance committee report at the county commission chambers in the Taos County Complex on Albright Street.

Taos County Board of Commissioners meets at 9 a.m. and has a packed agenda. Commissioners will hear from Holy Cross Hospital on the need to  reauthorize and potentially increase the mill levy, which requires a special election in March or April 2020. The mill levy – a tax on property – raises funds to help the hospital.

The commission also will  approve transfering cash temporarily from the general fund to cover costs of repaving the West Rim Road and making repairs to the Ski Valley Road / Leos Slope and approve adjustments for the 911 communications fund and foster grandparents fund and to reimburse Taos County Sheriff Jerry Hogrefe for actual expenses to attend the Capitol Christmas tree.

The commission will also honor Morgan Adams, New Mexico Junior High School Rodeo Association State Champion in Team Roping, National Qualifier and New Mexico 4-H Rodeo State Champion Team Roping and Sammy Balsamo from
Peñasco 4-H Rodeo State Champion Team Roping Header, Ribbon Roping and Calf Roping.

Marco Serna, one of several candidates for the Congressional District 3 Senate seat, will be at the Hotel Don Fernando to talk with voters from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. His talk is hosted by Cordy Medina and Joella Coca. The senate seat is up for grabs in 2020 after Sen. Tom Udall decided to retire next year and to not seek reelection.

Another CD3 candidate, Kyle Tisdel, will also be meeting and greeting Taoseños from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Kit Carson Electric Cooperative board room, 118 Cruz Alta Road. The talk is part of the monthly Taos United meeting.
