Team and single slots still available for golfers wanting in on 10th Annual Toast of Taos golf tournament

An 18-hole adventure at Taos Country Club is waiting for golfers of all levels and their teammates June 30.

This best-ball tournament will be played on the challenging course to reveal this year's lowest overall stroke score team and to kickoff the Lions Club of Taos' big fundraising event.

The Toast of Taos is a two-part event that includes the golf tournament and a wine festival supporting the various programs and community events sponsored by the Taos Lions Club.

In their 91st year of serving Taos County, the Lions Club of Taos and its dedicated members have worked to fulfill their mission to serve their community through programs such as KidSight, Taos County Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, college and technical school scholarships, Adult Vision, the AVID mentoring program and the Tio Vivo merry-go-round. One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the Toast of Taos go to fund these core endeavors.

Handsomely attended, the popular golf tournament has had an impressive run since restarting eight years ago. Part of the draw to this tournament are the side prizes awarded to men and women in their respective groups: incentives at prize holes await the field of 120 golfers (maximum limit).

Golfers will also receive a gift bag full of goodies, a box lunch and the chance to buy team "mulligans."

For the one participant who has lady luck as their caddie, a new car can be won if they're the first to hit a hole-in-one. So far, the feat has yet to be accomplished in the 10-year history of the Toast of Taos golf tournament.

Start time of the tournament will be 9 a.m., and will be followed by the wine festival and silent auction at 2 p.m., where wine connoisseurs can mingle with wine makers while enjoying culinary delights from Taos finest restaurants and caterers.

Cost to enter the tournament is $98 for Taos Country Club members and $148 for nonmembers. The fee includes entry into the wine festival.

For golf registration, contact assistant golf professional, Phillipe Kim at the Taos Country Club via phone at (575) 758-7300. For more information about the wine festival or to buy tickets, visit ToastOfTaos.com.
