Police Blotter Sep.13-18


The following is a condensed version of Taos Police Department reports from Sept. 13-18.

Sept. 13

8:55 a.m. Larceny, Smith’s – The caller advised that her phone was stolen the previous night from Smith’s.

10:31 a.m. Larceny, Valverde Street – A woman stated that she either dropped a shotgun out of a moving vehicle or it was stolen.

11:56 a.m. Battery, Lotaburger (north) – A man said he was passing by Lotaburger and saw a fight going on. He was able to break it up, but was still requesting an officer.

2:03 p.m. Narcotics offense, juvenile, DreamTree Project – The caller advised that she was going through a juvenile’s room and found some pills in an unmarked container.

7:15 p.m. Shoplifting, Albertsons – Two shoplifters who had taken tomato salsa and salad dressing were being held upstairs.

Sept. 14

2:33 a.m. Suspicious circumstance, Shell (south) – The caller advised that there were some people trying to buy alcohol after hours. One of them became irate and started throwing crates in the rear of the building near the car wash.

11:05 a.m. Welfare check, Albright Street – An older man with a cane was in the middle of the road asking for rides.

1 p.m. Fraud, forgery, Wendy’s – The caller advised that someone called the manager advising they were from the company. They said there was an employee there committing fraud and requested an emergency deposit of $1,200. The caller advised that the manager went ahead with the deposit.

4:39 p.m. Law, unknown problem, Ranchitos Housing Authority – The caller advised that her boyfriend was outside yelling and refusing to leave. She stated they had both been drinking since 10 a.m.

9:20 p.m. Battery, Paseo del Pueblo Sur – The caller was visiting McDonald’s and said they saw a man in a 2007 Ford pickup pull a gun on another man.

Sept. 15

8:47 a.m. Burglary, residential, Upper Ranchitos Road – The caller stated that someone broke into their house around 7:30 p.m. the night before.

11:11 a.m. Animal, stray, Carson Trail – The caller at space 5 stated that another person in the area had been bitten by a stray dog.

7:57 p.m. Trespassing, El Camino Lodge – Some people were in a vacant room. They were not supposed to be there.

Sept. 16

3:23 a.m. Shots fired, Centinel Bank – The caller said they heard a loud gunshot west of the bank.

10:14 a.m. Burglary, automobile, Taos Inn – The caller said their girlfriend’s camera lens was stolen out of their car in the rear parking lot.

2:18 p.m. Welfare check, Walgreens – There were some vagrants fighting and yelling behind the store. One woman had pepper spray.

6:14 p.m. Breaking and entering, Camino de la Cruz – The caller advised that someone broke into the bowling alley that’s being built. A board covering a window had been kicked in.

Sept. 17

11:41 a.m. Law, unknown problem, Allsup’s (north) – There was an irate male who wanted a refund for putting quarters in an air pump that was not working.

1:52 p.m. Burglary, residential, Lund Street – The caller stated that their house had been broken into. They reported that a mountain bike, chainsaw, computer and an iPad were missing.

4:36 p.m. Disorderly conduct, Taos Plaza – There was a group of vagrants cooking food and possibly smoking “dope,” the caller said.

7:27 p.m. Suspicious circumstance, Walmart – A woman in a gray hoodie and jeans was soliciting in the parking lot.

9:10 p.m. Domestic disturbance, Siler Road – A man was seen hitting a woman.

Sept. 18

8:47 a.m. Law, unknown problem, Loma Parda Apartments – The caller stated that there was “a bunch of predators” in the area.

11:22 a.m. Law, unknown problem, Enos Garcia Elementary – The caller said that a neighbor had gotten out of his vehicle and was chasing him down the road.

12:33 p.m. Law, unknown problem, Re/Max – The caller advised that there was a man at the bus stop drinking and throwing cans and bottles in the roadway.

3:15 p.m. Shoplifting, Albertsons – Some people had been shoplifting and left in a vehicle. The caller said they tried to hit the manager as they were leaving.

6:11 p.m. Animal stray, Kit Carson Park – There was a gray pit bull off its leash that tried to bite a woman in the playground area.

6:28 p.m. Shoplifting, Albertsons – A man was caught stealing cigarettes from behind the counter.
