The following is a condensed version of Taos County police reports from Jan. 3-8.

Jan. 3

10:27 a.m. Trespassing, Rosarita Lane - A man in a tan jacket was rummaging through a trash can and refusing to leave the caller's front yard.

10:43 a.m. Welfare check, Dea Street - A man was lying under a cardboard box across the street from the UPS store and hadn't moved all morning.

12:16 p.m. Larceny, AutoZone - A man walked out of the store with some stolen items and got into a silver Tacoma.

2:03 p.m. Theft of motor vehicle, Paseo del Pueblo Sur - The caller said their black Denali with black rims and tinted windows had been stolen.

4:49 p.m. Theft of motor vehicle, Paseo del Pueblo Sur - A woman advised that her green Prius had been stolen from a parking lot in the area.

6:44 p.m. Suspicious circumstance, Taos Youth and Family Center - A man with long hair was walking around the youth center following all the kids.

Jan. 4

12:25 a.m. Welfare check, Wal-Mart - A man was reported in a sleeping bag on the south side of the building under the porch. He said he was charging his cell phone and trying to stay warm.

1:15 a.m. Welfare check, Des Georges Lane - The caller said that someone was screaming in the alley and throwing things around.

10:34 a.m. Harassment, Lota Burger (north) - Some men were in the building throwing food around and giving the employees a hard time.

3:34 p.m. Shoplifting, Super Save - Two women were walking out with stolen items in their purses and in their cart.

6:49 p.m. Welfare check, Taos Plaza - A man was screaming and yelling near World Cup.

Jan. 5

6:33 a.m. Disturbing the peace, Calle de Oro - A neighbor at an apartment complex in the area gets on the phone very early in the morning and talks loudly, disturbing other tenants. The neighbor has been asked several times to address the noise, but continues to cause disturbances.

8 a.m. Property found, Taos Men's Shelter - The caller reported a stolen purple bike at the shelter.

8:50 a.m. Theft of motor vehicle, Paseo del Pueblo Sur - The caller said that one of his U-Haul trucks had been stolen. They said the truck had been taken out by a customer and was not brought back by the return date.

11:36 a.m. Welfare check, Camino de la Placitas - A person in a long brown coat was spotted choking a cat.

11:22 p.m. Suspicious circumstance, Ranchitos Housing Authority - A man wearing all black was acting strange and walking around houses in the area.

Jan. 6

1:02 a.m. Shots fired, Camino del Medio - The caller said she had just heard a gunshot. A patrol was requested for the area.

11:03 a.m. Larceny, Albertsons - The caller said he went back inside Albertsons to get his chihuahua, but the dog was gone.

7:56 p.m. Burglary residential, Dolan Street - The caller had just returned home and found their garage broken into. They said some items had been stolen.

8:18 p.m. Battery, Dea Lane - The caller said someone had punched them in the face.

10:07 p.m. Battery, Alley Cantina - Two women were fighting. One hit the other over the head with a glass, causing an open wound.

10:09 p.m. Larceny, Our Lady of Guadalupe - The caller said that the poor box had been stolen.

Jan. 7

12:52 p.m. Welfare check, La Lomita Road - The caller wanted a welfare check on her 99-year-old cousin. She said her family had not heard from her and had sent Christmas cards that had been returned with no response.

2:57 p.m. Alcohol offense adult, Hail Creek Road - An intoxicated man wearing a grey jacket was stumbling into traffic.

3:50 p.m. Criminal damage, Indian Hills Inn - Someone had cut some Wi-Fi cables that were connected to the roof.

4:17 p.m. Larceny, Paseo del Pueblo Sur - A man wearing a black cowboy hat was taking items from a business in the area.

10:44 p.m. Suspicious circumstance, Twirl - Some teenagers appeared to have been vandalizing Twirl by removing their ornaments and kicking them around.

Jan. 8

8:07 a.m. Criminal damage, Family Dollar - The caller said she had just arrived at work and found the windows broken at the store. She was unsure if anyone was inside.

8:57 a.m. Animal stray, Civil Plaza Drive - A black and brown puppy with white paws was roaming the area.

11:19 a.m. Traffic accident, private property, Kit Carson Energy - A fleet vehicle was hit by another vehicle.

11:21 a.m. Stalking, Gil's Barber Shop - A man felt that he was being stalked by some gang members, who, he said, were following him.

2:33 p.m. Suspicious circumstance, Weimer Road - A man was seen grabbing and choking a woman. The woman then took off toward the hospital.

4:35 p.m. Larceny, Paseo del Pueblo Sur - A woman said someone stole more than $2,000 from her purse.

4:37 p.m. Welfare check, Holy Cross Hospital - A man was lying face down by his bicycle.

6:11 p.m. Domestic disturbance, Paseo del Pueblo Sur - The caller said she took a set of keys away from her husband, who got mad and pulled her arm.
