Planning and zoning hears subdivision presentation

A 15-acre subdivision could be the newest housing development in the town of Taos.

The town's planning and zoning commission will meet Wednesday (Dec. 4) to hear a pre-application sketch plan for a 49-lot housing subdivision behind Taos Pizza Outback.

The proposed subdivision has been discussed before but is moving forward with a presentation to the commission during Wednesday’s meeting. The entrance to the proposed development is located off Paseo del Pueblo Norte across the street from Centinel Bank’s north branch.

While just a preliminary presentation, the subdivision could add nearly 50 homes on the lots if approved in the future.

The land is zoned R-14 in the town, which allows for multi-family dwellings such as townhouses or apartments, single-family dwellings and some retail opportunities.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the town council chambers at 120 Civic Plaza Drive.
