The Taos Lilac Festival has been celebrating the joys of springtime in Kit Carson Park since 2013. For the first time, this year’s festival was held on and around Civic Plaza Drive while the park is renovated in preparation for its extensive series of summer concerts.

Although it had a new location, and the weather was chilly, the festival continued many of its popular events, including the Taco Cook-off and Stray Hearts Animal Shelter’s pet pageant and kitten kissing booth. The Taco Cook-off raised over $3,000 to support Taos High School Culinary Arts program.

The Trading Post/Bent Street Café’s lamb taco won in the Judge’s Choice competition, while El Monte Sagrado’s bison “tacodilla” won first place in the People’s Choice voting.
