Taos Pride celebrates diversity and LGBTQ+ rights

Posted

Taos Pride’s summer festivities brought the community together to celebrate diversity, increase awareness and provide a safe place for LGBTQ+ folks of Northern New Mexico and beyond.

The Thursday through Saturday (Aug. 1-3) celebration coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, a series of nights when the LGBTQ+ community resisted police raids in New York City and kick-started the modern gay rights movement. In Taos, the weekend featured a film festival, Gutters & Glam bowling night, evening drag show and Pride parade and afternoon of performances at Kit Carson Park.
