Nusenda collects coats for kids

For the 10th consecutive year, Nusenda Credit Union is partnering with KOAT Channel 7 to collect coats at its 19 branch locations statewide. “KOATs for Kids” has provided thousands of kids with warm coats during the winter season.

Each year, Nusenda helps to collect between 15,000 and 20,000 coats. KOAT Channel 7 estimates that since the program began 28 years ago, it has distributed more than 320,000 coats with the help of its community business partners.

“This coat drive helps students statewide by keeping them warm and healthy during the winter season,” said Shana Runck, of Nusenda’s community relations and financial capabilities division. “For many kids in New Mexico, these donated coats are the only ones they will own. It’s important to us and to our member-owners to support and participate in this drive, which helps make a difference in the lives of thousands of New Mexico children each year.”

Interested donors drop off new or gently used coats at any Nusenda branch between Nov. 24 and Dec. 30. Donors can also choose to make a cash donation at any branch, which will be used to buy coats and distribute to children in need.

Nusenda’s Taos branch is located at 640 Paseo del Pueblo Sur.
