Beginning May 27 in Taos: Detours at Paseo del Pueblo/La Posta intersection

Posted

As construction continues on Taos’ main drag, crews will be making a number of closures in order to reconstruct Paseo del Pueblo.

On Wednesday (May 27), construction crews will close off the intersection of Paseo del Pueblo and La Posta to left hand turns. Work will begin to make improvements on the medians in the intersection and crews will need to limit traffic in the area to do so.

Northbound traffic will be rerouted east on Cruz Alta Road and southbound traffic will be detoured west on Tewa Street during the next 10-12 days.

Access will still be provided to businesses along the route, according to a press release from the New Mexico Department of Transportation.

Construction on the entire length of the project is expected to last into 2021. The estimated $22 million project will update Paseo del Pueblo and add in a number of traffic features like new stoplights at intersections. The project will also realign Cervantes and Los Pandos roads.
