As a current coach, I know the hard work that you and your coaches have put in up to this point. As a coach who has gone through a championship week of practice before, here are a few simple bits of advice:
1. Enjoy every second of this week. Practice, meetings, school, news articles, the school spirit that you will see this week will be second to none. Don't overlook anything this week. Savor it for all its worth and embrace it.
2. Not only are you playing for each other in your locker room, you are also playing for all the other former players and coaches who put on that uniform. In a small way, we are all living through you guys and we couldn't be prouder. Many will be there in person to cheer you on, some will be far away, but we are all Tigers and bleed Black and Orange.
3. Know that you are there for a reason. Despite all the other things going on this week, just play the game that you love, with the passion, fire and determination that you have been demonstrating all year long, and in the end, when the dust has settled, we know that you come out on top.
Although I have a different school name on my coaching shirt, I will always be a Taos Tiger and bleed Black and Orange!
