Public meetings this week: Taos schools budget, town historic preservation

Tuesday (June 18):

The Taos Municipal Schools board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday (June 18) at 6 p.m. at the Taos Municipal School administration building for a regular meeting. During the meeting, the board will vote to approve the budget for the 2019-20 school year.

Questa Independent Schools will also meet for a regular board meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Rio Costilla Southwest Learning Academy.

The Peñasco Schools board will meet for a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Jicarilla Gym. The board will be discussing a number of topics including the new salary schedule for 2019-20 and ancillary employee contracts.

Wednesday (June 12):

The town of Taos Lodgers Tax Advisory Board will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday (June 12) at the Town Hall training room. The board will be discussing the proposed lodgers tax budget and will also be hearing a report from the marketing and tourism department.

The town of Taos will also be holding a Historic Preservation Commission meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the town council chambers. The commission will discuss two construction changes from windows to fences in the historic district. Public comment is allowed during the meeting.
