1922-2019 Rose Marie Woodell, age 96, of Taos, New Mexico, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. Rose was born on September 29, 1922, to Dr. Faugh and Mrs. Thelma Marie (Lea) Pickett in Dallas, Texas. She is preceded in death by her last husband, Gerald Martin; her three children, Francis Brooke Woodell, Melinda Lea Woodell, and Sandra Renee Rekward; and her sister, Faughlette Pickett Hilliard. She is survived by three grandchildren, Keith Alexander Woodell, Ariel Benjamin Reyes, and Tequila Jane Brooks; one great-grandchild, Zion Reyes; and her cousin and dearest friend, Anita Hullum. Rose was a lover of the arts and a believer in the power of women. Her family asks that people who wish to honor her memory make a donation either to the Taos Center for the Arts (https://tcataos.org/join-give/) or to the National Women’s History Museum (https://www.womenshistory.org/support-us). We also encourage people to make a tribute donation to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://act.alz.org/) in Rose’s name. As it has done to families all over the world, this ravaging disease took Rose away from herself and the people who love her long before it took her life.
