MANA del Norte college scholarships available for Hispanic women

Aug. 17 deadline to apply for 2017-18 academic year

MANA del Norte is accepting scholarship applications for the 2017-18 academic year. Applicants must be a resident of one of the following New Mexico counties: Los Alamos, Mora, Río Arriba, Santa Fe, San Miguel or Taos. This year, five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to selected recipients. "Since inception in 1989, MANA del Norte has awarded over $172,000 in scholarships to residents of Northern New Mexico," said Piér Quintana, president of MANA del Norte, in a statement.

"The purpose of the MANA del Norte Scholarship is to assist Hispanic women from Northern New Mexico in continuing and/or completing their postsecondary education with a focus on the nontraditional student, such as single heads of household, re-entry women and first-generation college-bound students," said Dolores Roybal, 2016 Scholarship Committee chair.

Applications must be submitted and postmarked on or before Aug. 17 via regular mail to: MANA del Norte Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 9236, Santa Fe, NM 87504. Please do not submit applications via certified mail.

Selected applicants will receive their scholarship awards and will be honored at MANA del Norte's annual scholarship banquet during the month of October. Details of the banquet will be released at a later date.
