Light snow, cold air may affect state travel

Posted

Taos residents will experience some light snow today (Friday, Jan. 10), but accompanying cold air and breezy conditions may affect road conditions in the state, according to National Weather Service officials.

Albuquerque NWS meteorologists predict light snow will continue in portions of the state today, with up to several inches of accumulation moving across the state northeastward into the central and northeast highlands including Vaughn, Clines Corners and Las Vegas.

Meteorologists advise that the combination of light snow with very cold air and breezy northwest winds will lead to very slick travel, especially along Interstate 40 east of the Sandias and along Interstate 25 from Glorieta Pass to Las Vegas. Gusty winds across northeast New Mexico may create areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility.
