Letter: Thank you to mayor

As a former Taos Councilwoman, I know what a thankless job it can be to serve the community in government, so I would like to take this chance to say, thank you, Mayor Dan Barrone.

Many people may not know Dan like I do. He is loyal and honest and always looking out for the best interest of everyone he represents whether he agrees with them or not.

Dan Barrone brings a mature and thoughtful approach to everything he does, weighing the pros and cons on every issue and working toward consensus and commonsense solutions.

And when it comes to availability and openness, he is always there to listen to concerns, answer questions, and talk through the big problems. What Taos Mayor has ever before hosted wide-open public events on the Plaza, all with the intent of talking to neighbors, welcoming them to the discussions and listening to their needs?

Mayor Barrone, I want to say thank you for what you have done to bring this community together, for what you have done to shore up the town of Taos finances, to increase gross receipts tax and lodgers tax collection, and to use those additional resources to make our communities stronger and safer.

I will be voting for you and looking forward to another four years of your leadership.

Sincerely, Amy Quintana
