Dr. Geilan Ismail is retiring from her cardiology practice in Taos this month.

I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank her for many years of hard work in this community. Her tireless commitment to the highest standard of care was apparent in all that she did, and she also demanded quality work from those around her.

Because of her efforts, our own Holy Cross Hospital echocardiography and stress test lab was one of the first in the state to be certified by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission and is still one of the best places in the state to get those tests. Over the years she served in multiple roles, including chief of the medical staff, member of the board of directors, chairperson of adult and pediatric medicine department and director of the hospitalist group as well as many others.

As many of her patients can attest, she has, quite literally, saved the lives of hundreds of Taos county residents. She will be missed. Thank you, Geil.
