John Squier (Jack) Crellin


John Squier (Jack) Crellin, A 12 year resident of Perkins, Ok passed away November 17, 2019 at his home. Services will be November 22, 2019 at (Time and date) at Dighton Marler Funeral Home, 5106 N Washington Stillwater, OK 74075, with Pastor Paul Dawson officiating. Dighton Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater is in charge of arrangements. He was born June 27, 1928 in Coleridge, NE, the 2nd of 3 children, to Myrtle (Squier) Crellin and L.D. (Pete) Crellin. Jack served in the US Navy at the end of WWII, honorably discharged in 1947. He was able to participate in The Honors Flight Program in 2014 with his daughter Becky. He married Viola Mae Graves in Bedford, IA September 11, 1949. They were married for 59 years, having two daughters Jan Russey and Becky Burtrum, 7 grand children, 15 great grand children. Jack graduated from Iowa State University in 1953 with a degree in Forestry and spent the next 31 years between Arizona and New Mexico. His final stop was in Taos, New Mexico, retiring in 1984 as Supervisor of the Carson National Forest. Jack loved to travel, fish, hunt, snow ski and most of all horse rides into Forests and Wilderness areas. Jack moved to Perkins, Ok. in 2007 and spent many hours on the Cimarron Trails golf course. In 2010 he married Carol Smith of Cushing. They took sightseeing trips together. In May 2011, He fulfilled a lifelong dream to visit the Isle of Man where his Great -Grandfather and family had immigrated from in 1871. They also enjoyed other activities including the dances held at various Senior Citizen Centers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Crellin, his mother, Myrtle Caroline (Squier) Crellin, father, L.D. (Pete) Crellin, a brother James Harrison Crellin (NM) and sister Joan Maurer, (NE), and his grand Daughter in-law Tina Marie Burtrum. He is survived by his wife Carol Crellin of the home, daughters: Jan Russey (Duane) of Chandler, AZ. and Becky Burtrum of Stillwater, OK. His grand children: Carey Russey (AZ), Amy Russey (FL), Kelsey Russey (AZ), Clay Burtrum- Stillwater, Cady Roberts (Kris)- (Decatur, IL), Kelly Burtrum- Enid, John Burtrum – Yukon. His great grand children: Presley Geng (Robert), Trenton Russey, Chase and Storm Neclario (FL), Wyatt Bernal (AZ), Karly, Kinzie, Avery Burtrum (OK), Dylan and Brooklan Roberts (IL), Kyle Collins, Allix, Taylor, Jo and Evie Burtrum (OK). His extended family: Jimmy & Julie Smith, (Kelsie and Sam) Keys, OK, Karen Smith (T.J. Abney) Stillwater, Angie Robbins (Denny), Michael, Carson and Peyton, Evanston, WY.
