Is that your grandpa? Peñasco Valley historical photos on display

Posted

Historical photos from Peñasco, Las Trampas and the surrounding areas that are held by the New Mexico Palace of Governors are coming home to the valley for a special show at the Camino Real Ranger Station.

The Carson National Forest is hosting an open house with the photos and local artwork on Tuesday (April 23), from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The ranger station is located at 15160 State Road 75, in Peñasco.

The show gives the community a chance to see "historical black-and-white photographs that celebrate [the forest's] multiple uses and honors the cultures and communities that comprise the rich and distinct history of Northern New Mexico," read a press release from the agency.

"This open house is also an opportunity to meet local forest managers and employees, exchange stories and help us understand what caring for forest lands and serving its people means to you," according to the statement.

For more information, contact the Camino Real Ranger Station at (575) 587-2255.
