‘Hottest concert of the summer’

Dancing, music, contests, arts and crafts and more in Ranchos de Taos

There’s a big show brewing this weekend at Old Martina’s Hall in Ranchos de Taos. Local music impresario and rap artist Tarynce Hise (T-Mula) has put together an impressive lineup of hip-hop artists for what he hopes will become an annual event.

Called the Taos Summer Music Festival, the event on Friday (July 28) is headlined by Taos Pueblo musician-author Robert Mirabal; Frenchie of Brick Squad Monopoly, a Waka Flocka Flames artist and a nephew of Beastie Boys’ DJ Hurricane; as well as “Mowet” of smash group Pretty Ricky. Plus, Hise states there may be “special surprise performances by [a] famous local celebrity.”

The all-ages show is scheduled to be an all-day event running from noon until midnight, with a “rave” also planned. In addition to music acts, there will also be a light show, bounce house, slide, face painting, arts and crafts, vendors, food, drinks, contests, prizes, dancing to EDM and more.

This community event is sponsored by T-Mula, Metro PCS, Andrea Suazo of State Farm and Ace Hardware.

Watch for performances by Boy Dirrt, The Krown, Deno, Zecon, Julia Fernandez de Maez, Seb, Envee Queen of the Duke, Laguna Munta, Dooley KP, DJ Half Alive, DJ Mike, DJ Awol and more to be announced.

Hise says this is the “hottest concert of the summer.”

Tickets are $25 in advance, $35 at the door.
