The Taos Tigers are the 4A state football champions, thanks in large part to a massive Tiger defensive effort against a tough Bloomfield Bobcat team at the Anaya Stadium Saturday (Dec. 1).
The Tigers opened the game with a touchdown on an 83-yard run in the first minute of the game.
As the second half got underway, Taos and Bloomfield were tied 7-7, with wind and cold making it tough on both teams. Defense from both Tigers and Bobcats kept the scoring low.
The Tigers brought home another touchdown in the third and were good for the kick, making the score 14-7.
Entering the game, the Tigers were 11-1 and the Bobcats were 9-4 for the season.
