Grama asiste a un very strange cat

'¡Ay qué mañana tan fría!" whispered Grama Cuca one morning mientras que she was looking out por la ventana.

Era un día that was gloomy and certainly no era tiempo for anyone to be stirring about allá afuera. As she was looking hacia el corral, Grama Cuca vio a little bundle de algo moviéndose cerca de los old boards. Al principio she couldn't quite make it out pero luego she put on sus anteojos.

Pronto she was able de hacer focus mejor. Judging by how skinny el animalito was, its mother had probably gotten run over. As Grama listened, she heard al animalito meowing.

"¡Pobrecito gatito!" she murmured to herself. "I wonder si perdió a su mamá? Without his mother para darle de mamar, he is sure to die de hambre." Just then she remembered que tenía una poquita de leche de cabra in the fridge; perhaps the kitty might drink it. She went over pa'la hielera and she grabbed the milk. She poured esa leche en un saucer, se puso el cotón and she walked out en el rumbo del corral with her jacket blowing in the wind.

El gatito le miró rather suspiciously as she approached. He hid su carita en unos sacos de guangoche viejos, using the old burlap sacks to protect himself.

"I think he must be rather shy, si es un feral cat o un huerfano," Grama said to herself. Le puso el saucer de leche en el corral and she stepped away. Immediately el gatito smelled the milk y vino corriendo to lap it up de la charolita. Cuando había bebido la leche he looked up at Grama Cuca como wanting more pero when she tried to pet him, se escondió and remained hidden hasta que ella se fue.

"I feel sorry por el gatito," she said, shuffling pa'trás pa'la casa. "Me da lástima con él there in the corral by himself." She opened the door de la cocina y entró. She tried to work lavando los trastes and sweeping el suelo pero cada ratito she would peer out the window para chequear al gatito. The kitty was asleep arriba del los burlap sacks. She felt like bringing him pa'la cocina y dejándolo dormir behind the stove.

Al día siguiente, by the time que Grama Cuca went out to feed al gatito, ya estaba waiting for her cerca de la puerta. It came up to her muy contento listo para beber más leche. Esta vez as the kitty lapped up the milk, dejó que la Grama Cuca hiciera stroke his tail. Poco a poquito it was getting to trust her. Ella quería tenerlo como pet pero she didn't know cuál nombre darle. Al fin she decided que she was going to call it Fluffy.

Todos los días el Fluffy grew un tantito con toda the leche that Grama fed him. Agarró unos spots on his back and his ears se hicieron un poco pointy. He started to grow hasta que he was as big como un perro.

Pronto el gato became quite the hunter. He got rid de todos los ratones, all of the prairie dogs y de todos los conejos around the house. Era un gato casador. He became so fierce que hasta los perros would run and hide cuando salía el gato del corral.

Una tarde el vecino Pancracio came over a hablar con el grampo. He was very worried porque todas sus gallinas had disappeared. Cuando fue a buscarlas, all he had found was a bunch of feathers con sangre in the chicken coop.

As he was talking to Grampo, he happened to see Grama Cuca going over hacia el corral con una hefty bowl of milk. El Fluffy jumped at her. El vecino Pancracio was sure que el animal was going to attack her. He yelled at her: "¡Cuidado! ¡Es un gato montés! Los bobcats hacen attack a los humans for food!"

Sure enough, sin saberlo, Grama had been raising a bobcat en el corral.
