Flying high over Taos

Posted

As the sun peaked above the mountains on a crisp, frosty Saturday morning (Oct. 26,) hundreds of visitors and locals gathered to observe a colorful tradition.

Celebrating its 37th year, the Taos Mountain Balloon Rally saw dozens of brightly colored hot air balloons lift off over the course of the three-day festival. Early risers were treated to warm drinks and colorful trinkets as vendors lined the launch site at the corner of Albright Street and Gusdorf Road.

In addition to two mass ascensions and tethered rides, this year’s festival once again offered a “Balloomenshine” glow event at dusk Saturday.
